I never thought my past recruiting career would intersect with photography… and yet, here we are.
Back in my recruiting days, I reviewed thousands of LinkedIn profiles. Among many things, I helped people refine their summaries, sharpen their resumes, and make sure their experience sounded as impressive as possible.
I also reviewed—and inevitably judged—people’s profiles.
And before I read a single word, there it was—the photo. Staring at me. Setting the tone before I even got to their credentials.
And wow, did some of those photos tell a story. 😅 Just… not always the right one. Cropped-out exes, vacation selfies, pixelated mystery shots… and, of course, the classic “taken in my car” headshot.
We all know first impressions matter—today even more so, since they happen long before you ever get a meeting. Your LinkedIn photo, your company bio, even your Zoom profile—these images say something about you before you ever open your mouth.
That’s why a professional headshot isn’t just about looking polished. It’s about making sure your image aligns with who you are and the opportunities you want.
So, in a way, I’m still doing what I used to—helping people put their best foot forward. I used to polish people's professional presence through words. Now, I do it through images.
From resumes to headshots.
Funny how things come full circle.
